BioThema*专注于萤火虫荧光素酶反应的分析应用，无论是检测细胞，测量酶活性还是其他东西。在该反应中，用ATP（三磷酸腺苷）活化荧光素，然后氧化成氧化荧光素和CO 2。氧化荧光素以激发态形成，并在进入其基态时发光。通常在所谓的发光计中测量光。

在ATP的测定中，光发射可以基本上恒定或快速衰减。因此，基于萤火虫荧光素酶反应，存在稳定的光和闪光型ATP试剂。在荧光素酶水平低的情况下，每分钟消耗的ATP比例可以忽略不计，然后光可以几乎恒定但也很低。在高水平的荧光素酶下，ATP被消耗是不可避免的，导致光迅速减少，但初峰值光很高。实际上，峰高和衰减率都与荧光素酶活性成比例。BioThema开发了三种ATP试剂
